Best Metabolism Boosting Breakfasts

If you want to be a fat burning machine all day long, all you have to do is start your day out right! Not only will you feel good about yourself for starting off right, but you’ll be able to burn that lovely metabolic fire all day.  Your energy will stay high, your focus will be pin-point, and your day(s) will just go better all in all!

There are a few different ways to do this based on my experience and research. I will outline my favorites here, but as a little disclaimer, note that your activity level, exercise routine, and current metabolism set point all play a role. The other side to that is, it’s hard to lose with these easy strategies, so if you just decide to implement, you’ll reap the rewards!

Step 1 is to ALWAYS start your day with deep breathing! That will get your hormones, minerals, blood, and brain cells circulating and jump started. Truly I know of MANY people who only use deep breathing for weight loss and fat burning and their results still astound me. As soon as you wake up, find a few things to be grateful for and then use your belly/diaphragm breathing for at least 10 cycles of breath. For extra credit, throw a little QiGong and Acupressure in there by rubbing your hands vigorously for a good 30 seconds and then massaging your ears (too much to explain here but if you DO IT, you’ll notice the benefits!).

After accomplishing your daily morning routine (include oil pulling/swishing while in the shower-see my articles for more info), decide on one of the 3 metabolism boosting breakfasts!

Break-the-fast #1:

I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but option one is ‘BulletProof’ coffee. Now the actual term BulletProof is a brand name, but they are the ones who did the research and brought it to the United States (ancient tribes have been doing this for ages of course). The most important aspect of a BulletProof breakfast is QUALITY. If you’re drinking non-organic coffee that has already been ground, you’re seriously toxifying yourself. Don’t do it. Find the highest quality organic coffee available, keep it in your freezer, and grind it right before using it to avoid mold issues. Once your coffee is brewed (use Chaga tea water for extra credit), blend in 1 TBSP of grass fed butter, ghee, or coconut oil, or a combination of these (to total 1TBSP) with your serving of fresh coffee. If you use a blender or VitaMix, it will turn into a frothy latte type drink. Add a bit of toffee or vanilla stevia if you want to boost the taste. Having ONLY this good fat plus quality herbal caffeine first thing in the morning and nothing else until lunchtime has proven time and time again that weight loss and/or maintenance is the outcome. Side effects seem to be clearer thinking and energy.

Break-the-fast #2:

Protein and Greens Shake. If you’re someone who gets up and exercises right away before eating, this is a great plan for just after. Again, quality is always key. You can choose a whey or raw plant based protein powder but remember to add in your greens as well (right from the garden or a powdered version). The greens ensure you are replenishing the antioxidants you need after bumping up your free radicals after a workout, and the protein will help you build that lean muscle mass. There is a lot of research and information out there regarding whether or not to take your protein before or after your workout. If you’re looking to boost metabolism a bit more, take it afterward.

Break-the-fast #3:

Don’t break-the-fast! Hold off until lunch time to have anything at all. And if you really need to drop some weight, have a BulletProof or Protein and Greens Shake at lunch and then eat a clean dinner (no simple carbs!). EASY. Do it for 21 days and you’ll freak out at how much your body AND MIND have changed. Remember, fat holds all the toxins your body is dealing with. When you drop the fat, you clear your mind as well.
